When a crime occurs in a Connecticut community, police are often eager to find someone to blame. This may be especially true when the the victim of a crime is an elderly person. In fact, two people are now accused of assault, among other charges, following an alleged robbery at a motel.

The incident is said to have happened just before 10 p.m. on a day in mid-May. According to reports, a 51-year-old man told the clerk of a hotel that a microwave was not working, prompting the latter to leave a back room and enter the lobby. Reports claim the man grabbed the worker and pointed a gun. The clerk reportedly fought back but was struck in the face by the man, resulting in the loss of consciousness.

Police believe that the man then took the cash register before leaving the hotel in a car that was across the street; the man and the driver of the vehicle left the scene, but police claim they were able to locate them through identifying information related to the vehicle. Both the man and a 34-year-old woman were found in a motel and taken into custody. The clerk reportedly suffered non life-threatening injuries.

In addition to an assault charge, both are charged with robbery, larceny and conspiracy. They are being held on bond. As a result of the accusations against the Connecticut pair, they now have multiple decisions to make — decisions that will likely impact the rest of their lives. Regardless of the evidence against them, they are considered not guilty unless there is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise.
