Personal injury: Several ejected in Connecticut DUI crash

On Behalf of | Apr 5, 2018 | Personal Injury |

Because of the potential harm that a driver under the influence of alcohol can cause, many organizations work hard to educate the public about the consequences of drinking and driving. Despite these efforts, there are still drivers who choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after they have consumed drugs or alcohol. Police believe that this may have been a factor in a result crash resulting in personal injury in Connecticut.

The crash happened one evening on a day in late March. According to reports, a 32-year-old male was headed west on a Connecticut street. Police believe that he was speeding when he failed to stop at a red light. Unfortunately, it is believed that he hit a northbound vehicle.

Several occupants of the northbound vehicle — including a toddler — were reportedly ejected as a result of the collision. They were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the westbound vehicle was arrested following the crash. He faces accusations of DUI, among others.

Unfortunately, even relatively minor injuries that require hospitalization can result in significant medical debt. To help cope with the costs stemming from the accident — including lost wages in addition to medical bills — many injured as a result of another driver’s negligence choose to seek damages against the party deemed responsible. An experienced personal injury attorney can help Connecticut victims fully understand their options and follow the path most appropriate for their individual case. If their claims of negligence can be proved, they could receive a financial award that would allow them to focus on their recovery rather than how they will pay their bills.
