Mother, daughter injured in Connecticut pedestrian accident

On Behalf of | Jul 3, 2018 | Personal Injury |

Many mothers in Connecticut choose to take their children on a walk in the afternoon. They likely do so trusting in their overall safety. Unfortunately, one woman will likely question her future safety after she and her toddler were recently injured in a pedestrian accident.

The incident reportedly happened at approximately 4 p.m. on a day in June. According to reports, a 30-year-old woman was pushing her 2-year-old daughter in a stroller. Unfortunately, they were reportedly struck by a vehicle whose driver then fled from the scene. The force of the impact reportedly threw the toddler about 25 feet from the stroller.

Although the exact extent of both of their injuries are unclear, reports indicate that serious injuries were suffered and the pair was hospitalized. The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man, is accused of fleeing the scene. However, witnesses were reportedly able to provide a description to police officers that allowed the latter to take the man into custody. He reportedly told police that he had consumed both drugs and alcohol prior to the accident. The driver now faces multiple charges, including DUI, evasion of responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a motor vehicle.

A representative for the man claims that he is extremely remorseful for his behavior and describes a history of substance abuse issues. Despite his remorse, the two injured victims are left recovering from the injuries they suffered in the Connecticut pedestrian accident. Often, injuries suffered never fully heal, leaving victims facing a lifetime of issues. To help cope with the expenses that these accidents can cause, victims often choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against the party or parties believed responsible. A successfully presented lawsuit could result in a financial award that could help this family manage the financial ramifications of their injuries.
